Outpatient Department

OPD reception, specialised clinics across 20 departments and a daylit waiting courtyard.

Most visits to a hospital are not emergencies. They are a consultation for a persistent cough, a follow-up after surgery, a scan for an expectant mother, or a check-up a company has arranged for its staff. The Outpatient Department (OPD) is where those visits happen—and it is where most people form their first impression of a hospital.

Aravinda Hospitals & Advanced Medical Services is a developing 300-bed multispecialty tertiary-care hospital on the NH44 corridor, Telangana, near Mahabubnagar. Its OPD is being designed so that a visit is calm, organised, and complete: consultation, tests, and pharmacy on the same day, under one roof.

This page describes the OPD reception and waiting lounges, the central courtyard, the specialised OPD clinics, and how the outpatient journey is planned.

OPD reception and waiting lounges

The design renders for Aravinda Hospitals show an OPD reception with a long, staffed front desk, clear digital signage, and generous waiting lounges arranged in small clusters rather than long rows. Seating is planned with space for wheelchairs, prams, and elderly patients, and with separate areas near paediatric clinics for families with children.

Registration is handled through the hospital information system (HIS). Once you are registered, your digital medical record follows you—to the consultation room, to imaging or the laboratory, and to the pharmacy—so you are not asked to repeat your history or carry paper between counters.

Token displays and reception staff keep you informed about waiting times, so you always know where to go next.

A courtyard at the heart of the OPD

One feature of the OPD design stands out in the renders: a landscaped courtyard opening directly off the reception and waiting lounge. Natural light and greenery are not decoration—there is good evidence that daylight and views of nature reduce stress for patients and attendants, and the courtyard gives families a place to step outside while they wait.

The courtyard also helps with wayfinding. Clinics are arranged around it, so the route from reception to a department is visible rather than hidden down corridors—clarity that matters for first-time visitors from surrounding mandals and neighbouring states.

Specialised OPD clinics across 20 departments

Beyond the general OPD, the renders show a separate specialised OPD reception and waiting lounge. This is where the hospital's specialist clinics run, each with its own consultation and examination rooms:

Placing specialised clinics together supports the multidisciplinary model in the hospital's plan: a patient seen in cardiology can be referred to nephrology on the same visit, and the two consultants can review the same record. Our consultants are listed on the doctors page as they join.

The outpatient journey, step by step

Aravinda Hospitals is planning the OPD around a single, predictable sequence:

  1. Book. By phone on +91 84542 91000, at the front desk, or online once the appointment system launches.
  2. Register. Your details and any previous reports are entered into the HIS at reception.
  3. Consult. You are seen in the relevant clinic. Vital signs are recorded by nursing staff beforehand.
  4. Test. If your doctor orders tests, imaging and laboratory services are on site; many results are available the same day.
  5. Review and collect. Results return to your consultant through the digital record, and prescriptions are filled at the 24×7 in-house pharmacy.
  6. Follow up. Your next appointment is scheduled before you leave.

Preventive health checks, pre-employment examinations, and executive health packages for corporate partners will run through the same OPD infrastructure—see corporate health services.

Your first visit, made simple

The OPD at Aravinda Hospitals is being built so that a consultation near Mahabubnagar feels as thorough and well organised as one in a metro—without the journey. We look forward to welcoming you.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need an appointment for the OPD?
